We are excited to welcome on board our latest experiential travel partner who are as committed as we are in helping you and your clients Discover India Differently.
Agra By Cycle provides a really fresh way to experience Agra – not only by taking it slow on two wheels, but in introducing travelers to a totally new and off beat side of Agra. Although I had visited Agra countless times before, each time I was taken to the same places, fighting the same battle with the rest of the crowds for the best photo opportunity or being exasperated by the sheer hassle factor that so often is associated with visiting Agra.
Not this time – we cycled from their office (good bikes, well kitted out, excellently enthusiastic guide) which is directly opposite Amarvilas, so as central as is possible to be, cycles past the Taj Mahal, and within 10 minutes found myself, in utter disbelief, cycling in quiet village lanes, being able to take photos of the Taj Mahal totally uninhibited by throngs of selfie takers and ‘that” Diana pose-photographers.
Villages untouched by the ugly scars of mass tourism, we popped in to visit a family of local weavers, Holi was on the doorstep so children were covered in Holi powder, as were the multple goats I came across, local villagers welcomed us in to join them for chai, a local school where the classrooms open up to views of the Taj Mahal – farms with brilliantine green wheat fields, interspersed with cannabis plants and children who were more interested in having their photo taken than any demands for pens, rupees or chocolate.
What breath of fresh air – and all within the shadow of the Taj Mahal.
Even now we are lucky enough to be surprised by destinations we had pretty much given up on – so a massive thanks to Agra By Cycle for giving us a chance to experience Agra in a new and refreshing, and highly enjoyable way.
